May Liu, owner of M Shanghai restaurant on Grand Street in Brooklyn, wants to trademark her “Awesome Chicken” and “Fabulous Mu Shu Pork” recipes.

Know your chicken.

The proprietor of a pair of established Chinese restaurants in Brooklyn has called “fowl” on a plucky neighborhood rival charged with copying the restaurateur’s signature chicken dish.

May Liu, the owner of the popular M Shanghai and M Noodle Shop in Williamsburg, is seeking to trademark two of her popular dishes, “Awesome Chicken” and “Fabulous mu shu pork.”

Liu is suing an ex-cook at M Noodle Shop, Wei Wang, who left her employ to open Wei Williamsburg, where the menu offers, maybe not so coincidentally, “Awesome” chicken — an entree that commands $ 12 at both the new restaurant and at M Noodle Shop.

The suit, filed in Brooklyn Federal Court, alleges Wang “had access to confidential information utilized in the restaurants’ operations, including recipes, food preparation techniques and cooking processes.”

Liu also offers a dish called “fabulous mu shu pork” on her menu and so does Wang.

Liu is seeking unspecified monetary damages for unfair competition and unlawful use of trademarks — but she will not have to prove Wang’s chicken or beef entrees are as awesome as hers.

“There is not going to be a taste-off in court,” said her lawyer Mark Kalish.

Wang did not return a call seeking comment.
