There’s no love for Uber in France.

Rocker Courtney Love was temporarily held hostage while riding in a hired car near the Paris airport Thursday as anti-Uber protesters created chaos during a taxi strike in Paris aimed at derailing the hired car service

“they’ve ambushed our car and are holding our driver hostage,” Love wrote on Twitter amid a flurry of messages. “they’re beating the cars with metal bats. this is France?? I’m safer in Baghdad.”

Tensions are high in the European country, where taxi drivers organized a nationwide strike to protest laws about low-cost Uber rides.

The ride service has been banned in Paris amid violence against Uber drivers.

“We are calling for calm. We are in a state of law,” Interior minister Bernard Cazeneuve said. “A state of law is not a state of violence.”

But tear gas was used as strikers clogged entrances at the airport, ensnaring Love, and apparently Kanye West, in the chaos.

“Dude @kanyewest we may turn back to the airport and hide out with u,” Love wrote along with a picture of an egg smashed on a car window. “picketers just attacked out car #ParisUberStrike”.

Love later called on the French president to take action.

“Francois Hollande where are the f—–g police??? is it legal for your people to attack visitors? Get your ass to the airport. Wtf???”

Love went on a rant about the French protest chaos after getting caught up in the mayhem.

Love, who posted a video of the mayhem to her Instagram page, wrote that she “paid some guys on motorcycles to sneak us out,” and made it safely to her hotel despite having rocks thrown at them as they “passed two police and they did nothing.”

“how on earth are these people allowed to do this? the first car was destroyed, all tires slashed and beat with bats, these guys trying to open the doors and the cops are doing nothing??” she wrote. “French Taliban? civil reform needed in France?? I want to go home”

Among the startling images of the chaos were families, some with young children, walking with luggage along busy roads as they tried to duck the violence. Police said some 100 Uber drivers, and even passengers, have been attacked in the past weeks as furious taxi drivers take out their anger on the competition.

“Thereare people who are willing to do anything to stop any competition,” Thomas Meister, an Uber spokesman, said. “We are only the symptom of a badly organized market.”
