Dutch mailman hops Tour de France road barrier

A furious mailman refused to let the Tour de France stop his delivery rounds over the weekend.

He was trying to deliver mail in the Dutch city of Utrecht on Saturday when he found himself blocked by barriers put up for the cycling event’s Grand Depart, reports Road.cc. But instead of calmly riding around the police line, he got increasingly angry.

The unidentified mailman tossed his bike over the railings, before trying to pull them down. A female tour official tried to stop him, leading him to aggressively point his finger towards her face.

“I’ll knock your teeth out,” he said in a clearly English accent after eventually clambering over the fence.

Other tour officials came to the woman’s rescue and tried to take his bike.

But he threatened to headbutt them if they touched his wheels, before adding: “Don’t be ridiculous. I’ve got 80 kilos worth of [mail]. F*** off you imbecile.”

The clip then cut out.

His employer PostNL said the incident was “inexcusable.”

“But our employees have been working for days in the heat, with jobs (in) a complex traffic situation,” a spokesman said.

“Moreover, this man had taken extra work of his colleagues, in addition to his own route and he was already 20 minutes on the detour,” he added.

The mailman has since apologized to the officials for the incident, reports 9News.

This year’s competition began in Utrecht and is currently passing through Belgium before it arrives in France on Wednesday.
