Kim Jong Un’s rock fan brother seen at Eric Clapton concerts

North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un has an older brother who likes to rock out.

Kim’s older brother Kim Jong Chul, 33, showed up for two Eric Clapton concerts in a row on Wednesday and Thursday nights at the Royal Albert Hall in London, BBC reported.

Videos of Kim Jong Il’s middle son showed him walking into the historic venue clad in a black leather jacket and sunglasses while surrounded by aides who were trying to block the cameras. Other footage shown by CNN displays the autocrat’s older brother enjoying the English blues and rock legend’s show from his seats.

The blood descendent of the totalitarian communist state’s ruling family stayed at West London’s $ 3,000-per-night Chelsea Harbor Hotel this week, according to South Korean news service Yonhap. Kim caught previous Clapton performances in Germany in 2006 and Singapore in 2011, BBC reported.

“He was just like any other fan, but there were officials all around him,” said BBC correspondent Simeon Patterson. “They were obviously not Clapton fans, and looked really out of place. But he was having a great time, singing along to all the words.”

Though Kim Jong Un has also shown his love for western pleasures like basketball, South Korean officials passed over his rock-loving brother in 2011 because they didn’t think he could handle the pressures of the job, Ken Gause, a North Korean leadership expert at CNA Corporation, told CNN.

“Kim Jong Chul was not seen as being capable of dealing with the blood sport which is North Korean politics, especially as you move from a succession period to a consolidation period,” Guase said. “And, unlike his brother Kim Jong Un, he was seen as being potentially too weak.”

Another older brother, Kim Jong Nam, fell out of the running to take over North Korea after he got caught allegedly trying to use a fake passport from the Dominican Republic to enter Japan for a trip to Tokyo Disneyland in 2011, The Washington Post reported.
