More sex does indeed lead to more babies, Kinsey report

A Kinsey Institute report studied 30 women, half of whom were sexually active and half of whom abstained from sex, and found that those who were sexually active all month had a better chance of conceiving because their immune systems were better prepared.

Get this: Want to have a baby? Have more sex.

The sexperts at the Kinsey Institute came up with this advice after studying female immune systems and determining that more intercourse raises the chance of a pregnancy, even if the sexual activity occurs when a woman isn’t ovulating.

“(It) cues the immune system that a pregnancy might be coming along and so that when the woman does ovulate then the immune system is ready to become pregnant,” says Dr. Tierney Lorenze, lead scientist on the study, recently published in the journals “Fertility and Sterility” and “Physiology and Behavior.”

“Couples trying to conceive … should know that sex even outside of the fertile window is still beneficial for triggering important changes in the woman’s body that may promote a healthy pregnancy,” Lorenz says.

A woman’s natural immune system is designed to fight off foreign bodies and sperm could be perceived as a foreign body. But the women who have more sex frequently had their immune systems better prepared to become pregnant, Lorenz says.
