SEE IT: New mom holds her premature son for the first time

“The Exact Moment She Fell Completely In Love With Him

“This is a video of the first time Jessica held her 10 week premature baby, Hugo. After being delivered by c-section he was quickly whisked away to the NICU to be evaluated. Jessica was only briefly able to see him as she needed to recover as well. It wasn’t until almost 60 hours later that Jessica was finally able to hold her baby boy for the first time.I took this video hoping to catch a moment, never did I anticipate seeing the exact moment that she fell completely in love with him. The bond between Mother and Son immediately solidified. I hope that this video can show people that Love is the most important thing in anyone’s life. Without it we will simply exist, when the goal is to live.” <3 A Love What Matters Original Video#LoveWhatMatters

She finally got to hold her angel.

A touching video has emerged of the moment a new mother coddles her son for the first time after he was taken away by doctors for over two days following his premature birth.

Following a c-section in December 2015, Jessica Collinson waited 60 hours to hold her new baby, Hugo, who was born 10 weeks early, and needed to be transferred to NICU in a different hospital, while she recovered.

Little Hugo’s dad, Micheal Burritt, headed to be right by his son’s side for his first couple of days in the world.

“The reunion was emotional, to say the least. I had been able to see and hold him while Jessica was in recovery,” Burritt told The Daily News.

2-month-old Hugo’s due date is not technically until this Saturday, but he’s been home with mom and dad in Calgary, Canada, for three weeks now.

“I was hungry to see him, to hold him, to touch him. The only thing that kept me sane was knowing that Micheal was able to have skin-on-skin time with him” said Collinson.

The video, which was posted to the “Love What Matters” Facebook page on Feb. 16, has been viewed 6.7 million times and shared 43,000 times.

The heartwarming moment shows a nurse gently placing the tiny baby on his mother’s chest. The loving mom then embraces little Hugo and gives him a soft little backrub.

“It’s unlike any emotion that you know until you’re in it. It’s the most whole and at peace, I think I’ve ever felt — even though the worry was there,” Collinson said of the first moment she held Hugo.

The beaming new parents are readjusting to life at home with their new little boy, and all of the family is doing phenomenally well.

The family said that the loving and affectionate response they have received online since the video went viral has been humbling.

Collinson’s advice to other mothers who share her experience is listen to the nurses.

“Absorb everything you can, but at the same time follow your instincts and intuition. In this type of situation you have to be your baby’s best advocate,” she said.

“Be in the room. When mom can’t be there, it’s up to you. Any skin to skin contact will help. Especially with preemies,” is Burritt’s advice to all the dads out there.

“Biggest lesson learned from pregnancy to coming home, was learning to let go of control. Hugo had his own plan, it was all on his schedule, and we were and still are simply along for the ride,” he said.
